Why I (we) did not attend the AV Prime Rib & Politics Debate of April 08 2016
Let me first start with explaining to the Antelope Valley-High Desert Constituents and the public (smart voters), for the reasons my husband and I did not attend the AV Prime Rib & Politics, that was held on April 8, 2016, as candidates ourselves.
However, before I explain why we did not attend the AV Prime Rib & Politics, maybe a few of you should be asking why the Antelope Valley Black Chamber of Commerce, AKA: Antelope Valley African American Chamber of Commerce- AKA Antelope Valley African American Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation, why they sent Jeffrey and I “Invoices” in the amounts of $1,000.00 each to total $2,000.00, as submitted “Invoices” to us?
Also note, throughout this document I will reference above supposed non-profit as “Chamber”.
And while you are asking a few questions to the Chamber, do also ask Vernita Lynn Scott Flanton, Chairwoman of the Chamber, didn’t the Moffatt’s send in $65.00 each to total $130.00 dollars?
Note that, we will not associate or attend any event if one attempts to extort our hard earned dollars, that we deem are blessing, when we are able to give to organizations and people in need.
Although bullied by Vernita Lynn Scott-Flanton, with extortion on the difference in the amount of $1,870.00, we offered to have the Chamber’s legal counsel of the chamber, placed $1,870.00 of our funds, into an escrow account, because our Federal sources were indicating differently, that the Chamber was no longer an active non-profit. However, the chamber’s attorney said his client declined to have our moneys placed into escrow.
Concerns for the safety of our community and the difference of $1,870.00 dollars, was that the Chamber, prove it was still an active nonprofit and in good standing, provide copy of 990 Tax Returns, backup data to verify the filings and other candidates had paid the same amounts of $1,000.00 being asked from us.
We offered our difference of funds to be placed into escrow in the amount of $1,870.00 and then release the moneys once the Chamber was able to satisfy our genuine concerns, since promoting as a non-profit; again the attorney declined our offer, on behalf of his client “Chamber.”
Vernita Lynn Scott Flanton, Chamber Chairwoman, even stated to me that persons donations were confidential and would not provide copies as proof other candidates paid $1,000.00, exact same invoices we were sent and nor would Vernita provide proof of any candidates even paying $500.00 dollars for the 4/8 Debate.
Why other candidates were sent requests of $500.00; however we the Moffatt’s were invoiced $1,000.00, totaling $2,000.00, that we had to prove up to a constituent, because Vernita put out on social media no candidates were invoiced in excess of $500.00 and request was only sent for $500.00, which was a bold face lie at the expense of our reputation and candidacy (Jeffrey as a Congressional Candidate and myself as a State Senate Candidate).
We felt as a family and candidates, we were being singled out for extortion at the invoiced rates of $2,000.00. Sure, we would have loved to attended the 4/8 Debate and seen many constituents and friends; however, we will not be extorted. When one does such extortion, we will stand by our principals, that we so aim for GOD, Country & Family before politics and we will expose you and/or your entity for the safety of our community and state.
Truth be told; we were in fact advised not to attend, because we did not pay the extortion amounts, another fact Vernita has simply failed and hidden to convey as the truth in order to make herself and bogus non-profit entity look good at our expense, especially when Vernita said the following:
“Thank you so much for your suggested donation amount… However, due to the nature of our event by providing the meal portion at NO CHARGE to the public and other candidates’ willingness to contribute the requested amount, we are unable to allow you to participate…should you be willing to bring your contribution more in line with the other confirmed candidates we will be happy to have you on our program. Thank you and good luck this election cycle!” said Vernita Lynn Scott Flanton.
Many of you do not know that in defending and protecting taxpayers on a daily basis we take a stand, to stand for something or we stand for nothing.
We have more than once stood up to government misconduct, corruption, fraud, waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars, along with exposing nonprofit self-dealing organizations for the paramount safety of our community and state.
Many of you also do not know, we exposed (blew the whistle) on one of the largest non-profits in California, bigger than Red Cross, for what a particular non-profit was doing right here in the Antelope Valley-High Desert Community. Within that case the CA State Inspector General, (IG) had the non-profit re-organize, removed all the board members and replaced with new board members…because the IG, issued Findings and determined the non-profit and its co-conspirators caused a $1.8 Billion dollar failure to you the taxpayers.
We have referred cases to the Federal Government (IRS/DOJ) and other Federal agencies and DOJ has sought criminal investigations against certain individuals and non-profits. The present issue is small potatoes to what we have done, and do on a daily basis for a living as watchdogs for the protection of our community and residents (constituents).
Furthermore, one constituent took a stand on the issue he was witnessing taking place on a social media platform and then contacted me and demanded proof, that the Chamber was charging us $1,000.00 each? I did in fact provided both Chamber Invoices, that reflect being charged $1,000.00 each, and this honorable citizen’s name is Arend Mathijssen.
The former nonprofit and Vernita kept up its lie and being dishonest with Arend, until Mr. Mathijssen, provided our proof of invoices on the same social media platform. The proof was Vernita representative of the Chamber submitted two Invoices with Unit Prices of $1,000.00 each to Jeffrey and me. I supplied the invoices, as proof our family was in fact being extorted $2,000.00.
LIAR – Vernita even called my husband a “liar” on social media, which I have not taken kindly too, being that Jeffrey is a Coma Survivor and has worked very hard in his life to beat the odds of when he faced death head on. From the time I have been with Jeffrey 28 years I know the adversities Jeffrey has surpassed by the grace of GOD and GOD interceding his life challenging moments. I know Jeffrey’s lifelong accomplishments and feeling so overjoyed when we are also able to continue blessing our community and other organizations financially. You Vernita, Defaming my husband of 28 years is an act I will not back down from your or anyone else.
Vernita, you calling my husband a LIAR on a social media platform the LIAR really is you Vernita, because you deceived the public and confided differently, that all candidates were sent the same request of $500.00. Recall you stated on social media your words exactly:
“All candidates were sent the same request. Min was $500. This WAS NOT a fundraiser for the chamber. There was no invoice sent – only an invitation and a request, nothing more.”
This statement was a bold face lie and I will not let you or anyone lie to the public at my husband or my expense, in order to cut your backroom political deals with “the man” as political favors to make you or your Chamber look good at our expense. How dare you Vernita, especially when you know in the past the Palmdale Moffatt Family, has even given $1,500.00 dollars to the Chamber back in 2013.
The Palmdale Moffatt’s have even given to the Palmdale Chamber $5,000.00 sponsoring their Taste of Palmdale event and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer even $5,000.00 and so many other non-profit agencies who strive to move our communities forward with celebrating solidarity in Antelope Valley-High Desert. Let’s not forget the multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars we have invested within our community and jobs we provide.
Thanks again to Arend Mathijssen concerned community Citizen for even asking the right questions, rather than listening to rumors or jumping to wrongful conclusions you had seen on social media, you are in fact a community hero, who will be listed in my upcoming book, to be released soon.
Star Moffatt, Proud (2016) California State Senate Candidate
P.S. Vernita and Team, have a good Monday and phenomenal week ahead.
